New Music

In preparation for the Metallica Concert coming up in 5 weeks, I have updated my music selection.
You can now hear All Metallica, All the Time!!

Turn it UP!!

Rock On!!

Upgrade

This last week I added some upgrades to our truck. I added a new Pioneer AVIC-Z2 Stereo system that has navigation, satellite, DVDs player, ipod connection, hard drive and a backup camera. Just about everything a Nerd like myself would like. We also added 2 headrest monitors with headphones so the kids can be watching a movie while we are on the road.

Next weekend in the Duck hunt opener. It looks as if me and my dad will be heading out to Ogden Bay in the early morning hours to see if we can still shoot. Weather looks like it will be rainy and cold. Perfect Duck hunting weather.

Crab, Trout and Rock and Roll

About a week ago we bought some crab at Costco and never got around to preparing it. Kim told me on Sunday that I should make the crab and the trout we caught, before it starts to go bad. Well I started preparing it and then realized that that rest of my family was eating burritos. Instead of letting the food to to waste, I called my family to come over for some crab and trout. Everyone came over except Bryon who was working. We ended up playing Rockband and visiting until about 8:00 when voices started to give out. Everyone had a chance to play and Mom and Polly make a pretty good tandem team on the drum set. It was a fun night for it being put together at the last minute.

Meow

What a day yesterday. The final thing yesterday we went to Capital Theater to see the Broadway rendition of Cats. We wanted to make a nice evening of it so for dinner we went to Hot Dog on a Stick for dinner.

Cats was kind of different the other plays we have seen. I would recomend going to see it but there are other productions that are better.

There are a couple new bloggers on my blogger list. Check them out if you get a chance.

Profound Thoughts

If a tree falls in the woods and there is no one around to hear it, does it make a sound?

If a Hybrid car runs out of gas, does the car still run?

Well we test the second of these questions this weekend. We had to go up to Sunset to look at an RV and on the way home the low gas light came on. I asked Kim if she thought we could make it to Costco to fill up and she said she has driven several days with the low gas light on. When we got to 1300 South the car just shut off and we had a bunch of alarms in the car. Good news is when the gas motor shuts off the electric still runs, Bad news is, without the gas motor it will only do about 50. The other bad news is the next exit from 1300 south is 3300 south. We quickly get out of the car pool lane and move over to the slow lane. We make it off the freeway when the batteries driving the electric motor go dead. We coast into the water treatment plant parking lot trying to figure who can call to bring us some gas. I reach down and hit the power button and the car starts. Be drive like a bat out of hell down to Maverick and gas up.

Lessons learned:
1. If the low gas light comes on, get to a gas station right away.
2. You can drive about 3 miles without any gas as long as most of it is downhill.
3. Teach your kids early in life that running out of gas can be avoided.

Fishin' with Dad

This morning my dad and I headed up to Jordanelle for some early morning fishing. We left at 6:00 and were on the lake before the sun was up.

Can you see the mist coming off the lake?
There is a saying that a bad day fishing is better then a good day at work. Well what kind of day is it when you can't keep the fish off the hooks?

We landed about 12 nice 14-16 inch Rainbows before 9:00. After that we only caught 2 more but they were the biggest fish of the day. We brought these 2 home for a nice meal. It was cold when we arrived, about 40 and the water was about 62. It is strange to put your hands in the water and have the water warm them up.

We had a great day!

Village Inn Update

Well, I will never be going to Village Inn on 9400 South and 2000 east. We drove by there tonight and the store is shut down! Incredible. Why couldn't they have shut down one week earlier. We also found a web site that talks about health code violations at local restaurants. They had 63 violations. By the way, if you ever want to eat out again anywhere and feel good about it, don't look up health code violations in your neighborhood.

Kaylee, Brit and Kim have all been sick the last week or so. I am sure they had the Nancy Village Inn Virus.

Good Bye Village Inn . . . . . Good Ridance!!

Stupid Village Inn

Well, what ever the waitress at Village Inn hocked on my breakfast on Sunday has made me sick. I came home yesterday not feeling well and today I am still not feeling well. Sure wish I had some sick time I could take.

Stay away from Village Inn 9400 South 2000 East!

The plot thickens

Just as soon as I had blogged about there not being too many houses for sale in our neighborhood, the people 2 houses up in our circle have a for sale sign out in their yard. We had heard they may be moving up to the Pacific Northwest but there wasn't a for sale sign until Sunday. I think this will actually be a plus for us, it will drive more traffic up into our circle and people going to see their house will need to drive right past our for sale sign.

Other weekend happenings:
Went boating
Saw Tropic Thunder with Kim
Went to the neighborhood party
Had great BBQ at Joe Morley's
Watched Be Kind Rewind
Installed a brake controller in the truck
Watched Football (pro and college)
Cleaned the garage
Washed all the cars
Washed the boat
Fixed the leaking fuel line in the jeep
Had Brunch with Kaylee
Had our food coughed on by our server
Found strange items in our food (plastic, other unidentifiable thing - could be a toe nail or an overcooked hash brown, I convinced myself it was a hash brown)
Laughed at the manager who had tucked his shirt into his jockeys and they were riding up past his pants
I guess brunch could have been a post all its own.

Well here goes another week.

Update on Life

Life around here has been quite busy that last few weeks. I am sure you can tell by the lack or posts on our blogs.

Here are a few things we have not mentioned.

We listed our house for sale this last week. The yard sign was put up last night. Homes for sale are fairly rare in our neighborhood. It has been funny watching people drive in to the circle to see who is selling their house. Well it is us. Kim and I were at a movie last night and we had a call that someone wanted to see the house so we ran home did the quick 5 minute clean up and took the dogs over to the park. I guess that is how our life is going to be for the next little while until the house sells.

Right now I am looking out the windows as a black truck does the slow drive by.

We went boating yesterday. I checked the water temperature online to how cold it was at Rockport the it said 74. Sounds good, well when we got there the air temperature was about 60 and windy the water was 64. We stayed for a couple of hours and headed home it was a good time and Spence even wake boarded. Can you say shrinkage.

Two weeks ago we bought a new truck. We traded in the old one and ended up getting a 2008 Dodge Ram 2005 Mega cab Diesel. It is still black so most people don't even realize it is a new truck. It has a ton more leg room in the back. More towing capacity and right now it is filled with 100% Bio diesel.

Today, we may go out boating again, or just try to finish up all the small things around the house that need to be done. I think the list of things to get done in the house is down to 2 and a half pages.

We do have a couple of fun things coming up. Kaylees birthday is in less then 2 weeks. She wants rockband 2 but our xbox 360 broke a week ago and we had to send it in for repair. Hopefully it will be back before then. We are going to go see Cats at the Capital Theater on Sept 19. There is a Monet and Picasso exhibit up at the U that we want to go see. The waterfowl opener is in less then a month. I think I will try to find a guided goose hunt to do this year. Should be a blast. And finally we have the Metallica concert on November 3rd. We have really good seats and it should be a ton of fun. This will be Kaylee's first Rock concert. She seems a little worried about how loud it will be (she doesn't like loud things) but we are going to have her bring ear plugs.

Wow what a rambling blog. Hopefully I will be able to keep up on this a bit more now things are starting to slow down.

Blolacker

I know I am a blolacker. Is that a word? It is now. Blog + Slacker.
