5th grade dance festival

In the 5th grade at Willow Canyon Elementary they have a big dance festival at the end of the year. The 5th graders get to do a synchronized stick dance that everyone kind of looks forward to while in school. My dance partner was Rachel Hanson. After a while you forget about people and wonder what they have been up to. Well tonight I found out what Rachel had been up to.

Moab 2008 Slideshow

A slideshow from our Moab trip is at the bottom of my blog. Don't miss it.

Moab 2008

We are back from Moab for this years trip. We had a great time.
We arrived on Thursday night and got settled into our cabin. Scott had all ready arrived and established his camp site. We then went to the store and to bed.

Friday we got up and the weather was not that good so we went to the Pancake Haus for some vittles. Since the weather wasn't that nice, we drove around to scout out some hiking locations. That afternoon Mindi and Mom and Dad arrived. Nate and Jen were right behind them. That night, we picked up our Jeeps that we had reserved. I picked up a yellow 4 door Rubicon and Nate had a Red 2 door Rubicon. We then headed off to see how the non-modified Jeeps would do on Fin's and Things. We were both please with the performance of the vehicles. We then headed out to do a small hike and look for the Cowboy Bathtub.

Saturday, we woke up and after some grub at the Pancake Haus, we took the Jeeps out to Hell's Revenge, one of the premier Jeeping trails in the Moab area. In the Yellow Jeep we had Jeff - driving, Ellis in the passenger seat and Brit, Tanner and Zak (not Zakky) in the back seat. In the Red Jeep we had Nate - driving, Scott in the passenger seat and Sammy and Ryleigh in the back seat. Most of the people on this excursion had never been on Hell's Revenge. There were numerous times that Ellis stated "We aren't going up that are we?". Well yes we were going up there and we were going up the next one. I am glad everyone survived. At the end of the trail there is a fairly flat sand road that we had a little race on. At the very end, there was a huge bump that Nate hit and totally annihilated one of his shocks. We met the others at the Art Show going on down there. We tried to do another trail in the afternoon but Nates Shock was toast. He had to turn around and replace it. I took the older kids (Shanae, Tawni, Brit and Tanner) on Fin's and Things. Dinner at Eddy McStiffs and hanging out finished out the day.

Sunday began with Breakfast at Smitty's Steak house. Then the 2nd annual Dance off or Dancing with the Tards. Ian, Zak, Scott, Mindi, Megan and Kaylee participated this year. Here is Kaylee's video.

We then took a hike down Mill Creek Canyon. The water was cold but the scenery was amazing. We did a shuttle from the bottom to the top so we only had to hike downhill, good think, I am not in the best of condition. We saw Petroglyphs and some amazing river scenery. I would highly recommend this hike. After the hike, another trip to Pasta Jays for dinner and then to the giant sand hill just north of town. This year we brought saucer sleds to try out. Well they work pretty well. I wonder why my back and neck hurts today. I think we all had sand in place that you should not have sand.

I will try to gather up all the photos and do a slide show later on. Great trip again this year!

Moab

We made it to Moab last night! We are all settled into our little cabin and just getting ready for the day. We are going to go to Breakfast and then maybe a hike. Scott and Polly are here, Jen and Nate are on the way here and Mindi and Mom and Dad will be heading down later today.

Pedicures and Massages

Kim and Kaylee went and had their feet all groomed up today. Brit has had a sore back and neck so Kim made him an appointment to get a massage. Being the loving caring father that I am, I volunteered to take him. I got a massage too. It had been way too long since I had a massage. I think I will schedule a couples massage for our Anniversary.

We are getting ready to head out to Moab tomorrow. We are planning on leaving around 4:00 or so, if I get done with all my work. Can't wait.

Moab Music

We are getting ready to head down to Moab for our annual family trip. Every year there seems to be a song or 2 that correspond to our trip. Whose music should we take down this year?

BTW, what song if started at the giant sand dunes, will finish at the exact time you arrive at the camp ground?

Grumpy?

Am I Grumpy? I have been told that occasionally I get grumpy. Is this true? I do know that if I am hungry or tired that I can be a little bit on the irritable side. Good think it doesn't happen very often. I have also been told I am obsessive. Maybe everyone else is just full of crap. Perhaps I am just getting old. Someone get me a Coke!!
Just for the record, I was very grumpy last weekend. ;)

What's on your DVR

If you don't have a Digital Video Recorder then you are missing out on one the great inventions of the last few years. This device will allow you to pick a TV series and record all the shows when they are played. You can then watch them when ever you get around to it. You can also pause live TV if you need to walk away for a minute or two. We have 3 DVR's located through out the house. We all have different shows that we like to record. I have the following setup to record on my primary DVR in no particular order:

  • American Copper
  • Deadlist Catch
  • Dirty Jobs
  • Little People, Big World
  • American Gladiator
  • Myth Busters
  • Cash and Treasures

I also have a few other movies and specials recorded. Every Monday (or next available day) we all watch Little People, Big World as a family. Kaylee and I also watch American Gladiator.

If you don't have a DVR you should think about getting one. If you do have one, what do you record every week?

Utah Jazz

The season is over for the Utah Jazz. It has been a frustrating season this year. The worse part is they lost to the hated LA Lakers (although the Lakers clearly out played then).

New Floors

We are having the wood floors refinished in the kitchen and entry way. If you understand the layout of our house, you realize that we really can't go anywhere. Last night we had to sneak up the stairs from the front door. Today, Ron the floor guy is going to be putting down multiple finishing coats on the whole thing, including the stairs. We will need to be off of it all day. The dogs will have to live in the big room for today. I guess we will work out side and perhaps go see a movie. It is looking good. Pics to follow.

Mother's Day

I just want to let my wife know how much she mean to me and our family. We have over 21 great years together and I wouldn't change any of the them. I hope you have a special day.

Love you.
